The People's Republic of China (PRC) has lifted duties of 125% on some semiconductors from the United States. This was reported on April 25 by CNN.

"The exceptions apply to integrated circuits, also known as microchips or semiconductors," they wrote in the material.

It clarifies that in addition to semiconductors, China has decided to grant exceptions for some aircraft parts, including engines and landing gear.

According to the TV channel, despite the fact that China has made progress in developing its own semiconductor industry, it is still heavily dependent on the import of chips and equipment for the production of microcircuits from the United States. Last year, China imported $11.7 billion worth of semiconductors from the United States.

"Semiconductors are an integral part of almost any electronic device. They are difficult to manufacture due to the high cost of development and the required level of knowledge, which means that most of the production is concentrated among several suppliers," the TV channel added.

At the same time, according to CNN, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the country's customs services said they were not aware of the cancellation of increased duties on semiconductors, the Newspaper adds.Ru»

On April 23, White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said that the American side does not intend to unilaterally reduce tariffs on China. However, Washington is optimistic about a possible agreement with Beijing. According to Leavitt, the United States requires China, first of all, to reduce its own tariffs on products from the country, as well as to lift non-monetary trade restrictions.

Earlier, on April 9, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would immediately raise trade duties on China to 125%. On the same day, the Chinese authorities, in turn, decided to raise duties on imported goods from the United States to 84% as a mirror measure.
