A portrait of Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak, who died in the special operation zone to protect Donbass, was installed in the Hall of Fame of Crimean Journalism of the Vernadsky Crimean Federal University (KFU). This was announced on April 25 by Diana Pervykh, Head of the Journalism Department at the Institute of Media Communications, Media Technologies and Design at the Vernadsky KFU.
"Our graduate was inducted into our Hall of Fame of Crimean Journalism, which was opened two years ago <...>. Our favorite graduate, of whom we are immensely proud, is Alexander Fedorchak. He studied within these walls at our faculty for seven years, that is, from 2013 to 2020. He loved his alma mater very much. He often came here to visit, he talked to the last with his teachers," she said.
According to her, Fedorchak will always be the pride of the educational institution, so the journalism department will do everything possible to perpetuate his memory. For example, some students are already writing their theses on the life and work of the Izvestia correspondent.
In addition, she added that his portrait will be next to the images of prominent people who have contributed to Crimean journalism.
Fedorchak's death in the SVO zone became known on March 24. He worked on the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) and the Kharkiv region. The last report of the journalist on the situation in Kupyansk direction was aired on March 23. A memorial was erected in the Izvestia News Center building as a sign of mourning for the deceased correspondent.
On March 28, his relatives, friends and colleagues came to say goodbye to the correspondent who died in the special military operation zone.
In addition, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding Fedorchak the Order of Courage posthumously.
