Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has no choice but to try to quarrel between the Russian Federation and the United States, which have recently been establishing a constructive dialogue. Alexey Zhuravlev, a State Duma deputy and first deputy chairman of the Defense Committee, told Izvestia about this on April 25.

On April 24, Zelensky, in an interview with journalist Ben Shapiro, stated that Kiev "fights for the rights of Americans as well as for the rights of Ukrainians," and Russia allegedly always dreamed of destroying the United States. He also said that Ukraine wants to work with the United States to "achieve peace through force." The interview was posted on the journalist's YouTube channel.

"He does this very clumsily, saying that in the USSR every schoolboy dreamed of destroying the United States, obviously forgetting that he himself was educated in the USSR. So that's what you've been dreaming about, too? Or was there a separate training program in the Ukrainian SSR that instilled, on the contrary, a love for everything American?"— said Zhuravlev.

He stressed that the President of Ukraine is grabbing "the last straw" to achieve his goals.

"I hope the U.S. representatives also understand this very well. Zelensky is simply pushing the planet towards World War III," the deputy concluded.

On April 23, US President Donald Trump, answering questions from reporters at the White House, said that the United States was experiencing more difficulties in negotiations with Ukraine than with Russia. He also admitted that Zelensky is much more difficult for him to deal with than he initially expected.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on April 24 that Russia appreciates the mediation services provided by Trump and his administration in the negotiation process on the Ukrainian conflict. Russian President Vladimir Putin stands for achieving peace while ensuring the interests of the country, he added.
