The media learned about Kiev's intention to hold a summit in Rome on the day of the pope's funeral.

Ukraine intends to organize a summit in Rome on the Ukrainian conflict with the participation of representatives of the United States, Great Britain, Italy and France on the day of the funeral of Pope Francis. This was reported on April 25 by the newspaper La Repubblica, citing sources.

The source said that the Italian authorities, including Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni, oppose this initiative due to the fact that holding two events in one day can be "very difficult." In particular, logistical difficulties may arise due to the presence of "hundreds of motorcades" of state leaders at the funeral.

According to the newspaper, bilateral meetings may take place on the day of the pope's funeral, including talks between American President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. According to preliminary information, the venue for the summit may be provided by the local government.
