Yelets resident paid a fine for selling dangerous moonshine

A resident of Yelets was fined 15,000 rubles for selling moonshine that did not meet safety requirements. This was announced on Friday, April 25, according to the joint press service of the judicial system of the Lipetsk region.
The man sold a friend a home-made alcoholic beverage containing ethyl lactate and phenylethanol. These substances belong to the third hazard class, that is, they are moderately dangerous. According to experts, the use of such moonshine can be harmful to life and health.
A criminal case was opened against the seller, but it was terminated by a court decision. The moonshiner and his lawyer filed a motion to release the defendant from criminal liability and impose a fine. They argued that the defendant had committed a minor crime for the first time, made amends for the damage caused and sent charitable assistance to one of the rehabilitation centers.
Earlier in April, Izvestia reported that the Federal Alcohol and Tobacco Market Control Service may introduce a state duty included in the price of moonshine distillers. The possibility of selling such equipment under a passport is also being considered. In addition, owners of units that have already been sold may be required to register them within a certain period of time.
