In Transbaikalia, 30 settlements were protected from wildfires.

Since the beginning of wildfires in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has protected 30 settlements from the passage of fire. This was announced on April 25 by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the Telegram channel.

"Since the beginning of the fire-prone period in Transbaikalia, 30 settlements have been protected from the passage of fire. <...> There are three fires on 9.9 thousand hectares in the five km zone. Over the past day, firefighters have defended settlements in the Tungokochensk district and the Chernyshevsky district," the message says.

The ministry added that experts were able to eliminate the flame on 52 hectares and stop its spread in the village of Zhireken. In addition, the staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also protected the village of Zelenoe Ozero from fire.

It is specified that at the moment there is no threat to settlements.

On April 23, it was reported that a federal emergency regime in forests had been introduced in the Trans-Baikal Territory. It was clarified that another 100 emergency workers from the regions of Russia will arrive in Transbaikalia to eliminate forest fires.

On April 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with the government, demanded a timely response to forest fires and to avoid serious consequences. The Head of State noted that in at least eight regions of Russia, the number of forest fires significantly exceeded last year's figures.
