Summer is suitable for roofing, exterior decoration, replacement of communications and glazing of balconies, Alexey Orekhov, an interior decoration expert and CEO of NATEK, told Izvestia on April 27.

"With the onset of the construction season, which in Russia traditionally begins in May and lasts until the end of September, the activity of both private customers and professional teams is increasing. This time of year is optimal for most major work, including pipe replacement, electrical wiring, partition removal, screed installation and plastering. The daytime temperature is kept within +20...+30 degrees, which allows you to safely work with cement mortars, paint facades and quickly remove construction debris," he said.

However, according to the expert, this is also the period of the highest cost: works that could cost 3000-3500 rubles per 1 square meter in winter, grow to 4500-5000 rubles in summer. In July and August, the workload of the craftsmen reaches its peak — it becomes almost impossible to find a free team for a small volume.

"It is most profitable to carry out roofing, exterior finishing, replacement of communications and glazing of balconies in the summer months. Anything that requires access to the exterior of the building should be done before the end of September. For example, installing a soft roof in summer is not only technically easier, but also better, because at temperatures above +15 degrees, bitumen materials lie flatter and set faster," explained Orekhov.

He also clarified that a decrease in activity begins in October. In November, the cost of services may drop by 15-20% compared to peak months. There are discounts on building materials: drywall, paints, tiles can be bought cheaper by 10-30%. This is a good time for interior decoration — painting, laying tiles, assembling furniture, installing doors. Many stores are selling off the remnants of summer collections, and suppliers of imported materials are trying to empty warehouses before the new season. At the same time, the expert warned that it is worth paying more attention to winter, because it is possible that imported materials — for example, plumbing, lighting equipment, engineering systems — may rise in price.

For those who plan to install air conditioners, the best solution is to buy equipment in winter, when demand is falling and manufacturers are holding promotions. The expert clarified that in December and February, you can find a split system 20-25% cheaper than in the summer. However, he recommended planning the installation for spring, when outdoor temperatures allow you to check the device in cooling mode.

"If you are planning major repairs, it is better to act in the summer, despite the higher price for the work: technically it is easier and faster. Interior decoration, furniture, cosmetics and installation of equipment can be saved by rescheduling for autumn and winter. The main thing is to take into account the exchange rate and purchase the necessary materials in advance, otherwise the expected savings may be lost in rising prices," concluded Orekhov.
