The Germans, together with representatives of the Russian Federation, honored the memory of Soviet soldiers in Torgau

Residents of Torgau in Germany came to an event on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the meeting of Soviet and American troops on the Elbe together with representatives of Russia in order to honor the memory of Soviet soldiers. Sergey Nechaev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Germany, told Izvestia about this on April 25.

"You can see that the public that came with us today to honor the memory of Soviet soldiers is very friendly and is also very well represented. You have heard that they speak Russian here, and they thank you for your release. And we appreciate this kind attitude of the Germans," he said.

According to Nechaev, the reception given by the Targau community was "cordial." Together with the Russian representatives, wreaths and flowers were laid by Germans, including members of various political parties. He noted that the most important thing in the framework of the event was to honor the memory of the Soviet military.

He also commented on the order not to invite Russian representatives to Victory Day commemorations in Germany. According to him, let this decree remain on the conscience of those who gave it.
