More than 900 hectares of forest have been restored in the Murmansk region

In the Murmansk region, in the past 2024, measures were taken to restore forests on an area of 908 hectares. This was announced on Friday, April 25, according to Murmanskstat.

The forest was restored naturally on the territory of about 708 hectares. Seedlings were planted and seeds sowed on more than 183 hectares. 4.9 million rubles were spent on the work, of which 71% was spent on artificial reforestation.

According to Bi-port news agency, forest reproduction works are carried out annually in order to preserve the forest area, which suffers from deforestation, insects, diseases and fires.

Earlier, Izvestia wrote that in Russia it would be allowed to cut down part of the mountain protective forests for the creation and development of ski resorts. At the same time, the Ministry of Economic Development introduces the duty of business to restore trees.
