US President Donald Trump admitted that the words that he would be able to end the conflict in Ukraine in one day were an exaggeration of the promise. On April 25, the American leader announced this in an interview with Time magazine.

"I said it figuratively, and I said it as an exaggeration <... > Obviously, people know that when I said that, it was said in jest, but it was also said that this [conflict] would end," he said.

According to Trump, the responsibility for the development of the Ukrainian conflict belongs entirely to former US leader Joe Biden, who did his best to prolong the fighting. The American leader also clarified that he was the initiator of the conflict settlement not so long ago. He expressed confidence that at the moment he is the only person who can end the fighting on Ukrainian territory.

During the election campaign, the head of the White House noted that it would be enough for him to say "enough is enough" to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, and then contact Russian President Vladimir Putin and thus end the conflict in a day.Газета.Ru ".

Earlier, on March 7, the White House special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, said that Trump had promised to end the conflict in Ukraine in 24 hours, but did not say on which day. At the same time, such words caused a violent reaction in the audience in the form of laughter.

On January 22, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Trump had instructed Kellogg to resolve the Ukrainian conflict in 100 days. According to the publication, "almost no one thought" that Kellogg would be able to complete this task.
