- The Russian ambassador condemned Austria for ignoring the date of Vienna's liberation.

Russia considers immoral the decision of the Austrian authorities to ignore the anniversary of the liberation of Vienna by the Red Army of the USSR. This was announced on April 25 by Russian Ambassador Dmitry Lyubinsky.
"We have already jointly implemented a wide range of memorial events in Austria. Including on April 13, the day of the heroic liberation of Vienna from the Nazis by soldiers of the multinational Red Army," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Lubinsky expressed regret over the absence of this date in the political calendar of Austria.
The ambassador announced upcoming events, including the concert of the Turkish Choir on April 29 at Schwarzenbergplatz and the march of the Immortal Regiment on May 9. Lyubinsky invited everyone to join the memorial actions.
Lubinsky, in an interview with Izvestia on April 13, said that in the mass of historical publications, as well as reports on radio and television in Austria, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Vienna, it is difficult to find an objective assessment of the events of 1945. According to the diplomat, the local media also hush up the role of the Austrians in the overall complex of crimes of the Wehrmacht or SS in the territory of the Soviet Union.
