Gas supplies from Russia to Iran are expected to begin as early as 2025 after the price is agreed. This was announced on April 25 by the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsivilev.
"I want to say separately about the project that we agreed on at the last meeting in Tehran. This is the supply of gas through the existing infrastructure to Iran from Russia. This is a big project <... > Deliveries are expected to begin this year," Interfax quoted him as saying.
According to Tsivilev, at the first stage, Russian gas supplies to Iran through the existing infrastructure may amount to up to 1.8 billion cubic meters. m per year. However, the commercial operators of the states have not yet agreed on the price, and the exact date of the start of deliveries has not yet been determined.
It was reported yesterday that Moscow and Tehran may continue to create joint projects related to new onshore gas corridors between the two countries. It was noted that Russia may begin to help expand trade and economic ties between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran.
Earlier, on April 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law ratifying the Comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with Iran. It implies mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries in the fields of politics, defense, economy, security, trade, investment, as well as energy, infrastructure, transport and communications. The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries was signed by Putin and Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian on January 17.
