Domestic sunflower was sown in Crimea

Agrarians of the Crimea are testing sunflower seeds of domestic breeding. Specialists should evaluate the germination and yield of promising varieties.

According to IA SevastopolMedia with reference to the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Rosselkhoznadzor" in Crimea, a company specializing in Russian seeds has become a partner of the project. The organization noted that the promotion of domestic sunflower varieties and hybrids is important both for the so-called agricultural sustainability and for food security.

The demonstration site is a living showcase of breeding achievements, which is available for study by regional specialists, the Rosselkhoznadzor noted.

Earlier it was reported that scientists from the Podolsk L. K. Ernst Institute of Agricultural Sciences and the Crimean Research Institute of Agriculture have developed and patented a method for using essential oils to improve the nutrition of farm animals and birds. The new product will expand the scope of application of essential oil, which has a wide range of clinical and pharmacological effects, but is prone to degradation and oxidation.
