- The head of Georgia's ruling party, Garibashvili, announced his retirement from politics.

The chairman of Georgia's ruling Georgian Dream party, Irakli Garibashvili, announced that he was leaving his post and retiring from politics. Garibashvili announced this at a briefing at the movement's office on April 25.
"Now I don't see the need to remain chairman of the party or in politics in general. Therefore, I have decided to leave the post of chairman of the Georgian Dream and retire from politics, but continue to serve my country from a different position," Channel One of Georgia quoted him as saying on its website.
The Chairman noted that his mission as chairman of the party has been fulfilled. At the same time, Garibashvili clarified that he was not going to join the opposition. Garibashvili was elected chairman of the Georgian Dream party on February 1, 2024.
Last December, Garibashvili denied information about his resignation from the party. Then he stated that he continues to be a member of the team.
