Lada Vesta, Lada Granta, Kia Rio turned out to be the most popular among Russians in January – March. The Sber ecosystem for motorists and Sberbank Insurance summed up the results of the first quarter of 2025, which were reviewed by Izvestia on April 28.

According to the SberAuto service, 93% of sales accounted for used cars, 7% for new ones. The median check for the purchase of a used car was 1 million rubles, and a new one was 1.6 million rubles.

Russians most often bought Lada Vesta, Lada Granta, Kia Rio, Ford Focus, Hyundai Solaris, Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Camry, Chevrolet Cruze, Opel Astra.

Most car enthusiasts choose cars worth up to 1 million rubles to buy online (46% of all transactions). Lada Granta, Ford Focus and Hyundai Solaris models are the leaders in this category. In second place in terms of demand are cars with a price tag from 1 million to 1.5 million rubles (27%). Lada Vesta, Kia Rio and Volkswagen Polo are most often bought in this category.

In the category from 1.5 million to 2 million rubles, 14% of purchases are made, the leaders are Lada Vesta, Toyota Camry and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro. Cars from 2 million to 3 million rubles are chosen by 8% of buyers, Toyota Camry, Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and Mazda CX-5 are popular, cars over 3 million rubles are purchased by 5%, Toyota Camry, Geely Monjaro and Toyota RAV4 are the most in demand.

Motorists are also actively applying for protection in case of unforeseen situations. In the first quarter of 2025, drivers signed 11% more casco contracts than in the same period last year, Sberbank Insurance noted. The most insured brands in January – March were Haval, Kia, Geely, LADA, Chery.

Earlier, on April 22, it was reported that in the first quarter of 2025, over 36 thousand cars were sold under demand incentive programs. This was reported in the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The ministry clarified that more than 25.3 thousand cars were sold under the preferential car loan program, and more than 10.7 thousand cars were sold under the preferential leasing program. The main share of vehicles was accounted for by AvtoVAZ models.
