- The media learned about Apple's desire to increase iPhone production for the United States in India

The American company Apple intends to produce most of the iPhone smartphones for the US market in India by the end of 2026. This was reported by Bloomberg on April 25.
"Apple plans to import most of the iPhones sold in the United States from India by the end of next year [2026], which will accelerate [production] beyond China and reduce the risks associated with duties and geopolitical tensions," the material says.
According to anonymous sources of the agency, to achieve this goal, the company will need to approximately double the production of the iPhone in India. Apple sells more than 60 million iPhones a year in the United States. Mutual duties and tensions between Beijing and Washington are prompting the company to refocus on India.
Of the total production in India, Apple exported $17.5 billion worth of iPhones in the fiscal year ending March 2025.
On April 2, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of 10% base duties on products imported from other countries. For the European Union, this figure was raised to 20%, and for China — to 34%.
After that, on April 9, the US president announced the suspension of duties previously imposed on a number of countries for 90 days. He also announced an immediate increase in duties on products from China to 125%. On April 10, this figure reached 145%.
However, the Chinese authorities, in turn, decided to raise duties on imported goods from the United States to 84% as a mirror measure.
