The Estonian Parliament allowed the adoption of a bill against the EPCC

The Estonian Parliament may again adopt a bill against the Estonian Orthodox Christian Church (EHRC). This was announced on April 25 by the former Minister of Internal Affairs of the country, the head of the Social Democratic Party faction in Parliament, Lauri Leaenemetz.
It is noted that, according to the Estonian Constitution, if the president refuses to approve a law, then the Cabinet of Ministers can re-adopt it without changes.
"The safety assessments <...> have not changed. Security problems are still related to subordination, and the consensus of the parliamentary majority on this issue has not changed," Leaenemetz said in an interview with ERR television and radio company.
The day before, it was reported that Estonian President Alar Karis did not approve the amendments proposed by parliament to the law against the Estonian Orthodox Christian Church.
On April 9, the Estonian Parliament passed a law obliging it to sever ties with the Moscow Patriarchate. As noted by the Sputnik Near Abroad agency, in fact, this law prohibits the EPCC, and therefore it must sever all ties with Moscow or prepare for trial. Because in the eyes of the authorities, it remains "for Russia and the Kremlin the most important instrument of influence in Estonia."
