The global economy is at a critical stage, and growth forecasts have been revised down significantly. This was announced on April 25 in the text of a statement by Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, published on the website of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC).

"The global economy is at a critical stage. <...> We are witnessing increased risks to financial stability, increased inflationary pressures and weakening budget discipline," the Finance Minister said.

According to him, the development prospects will be determined by the ability of the international community to establish mutual understanding, restore cooperation and promote innovative technologies.

At the same time, against the background of difficult external conditions, the Russian economy is demonstrating stability, the minister stressed.

"It is important to maintain the successes achieved so far and take advantage of new opportunities, especially in the technology sector, which can potentially significantly increase productivity," Siluanov concluded.

The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the international economic situation is objectively becoming more complicated — financial markets are undergoing serious fluctuations. It is necessary to constantly analyze the situation, predict changes and use the emerging opportunities to strengthen the domestic economy, the head of state stressed.
