Sanctions against Russia have not prevented the growth of its trade. This was announced on April 25 by the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu.

"The results are very noticeable. The Russian economy has grown by 4.1% over the past two years. The volume of foreign trade maintained a positive trend. At the end of the year, despite the sanctions, it increased by $3.8 billion and amounted to more than $716 billion. The foreign trade surplus increased by $7 billion, amounting to about $146 billion," he said in an interview with TASS.

Shoigu noted that in 2024, the volume of industrial production in the country increased by 4.6%. This was due to an 8.5% increase in manufacturing output. Thus, by the end of 2024, federal budget revenues, including oil and gas, increased by about 26%.

On April 24, the Russian Embassy in London called the UK's sanctions on the transfer of technology and software to the Russian Federation, as well as restrictions on a number of goods, meaningless. The diplomatic mission stressed that the new restrictions will have no effect on Russia.

On the same day, the British authorities blocked Russia's access to advanced technologies, including software for searching and operating oil and gas wells. It was clarified that controllers for game consoles are also included in the list of prohibited goods.
