- WP announced the resignation of Kasper from the post of chief of staff of the Pentagon Chief
Joe Kasper, Chief of Staff to U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, has resigned from his position. This was reported by The Washington Post (WP) on April 25.
According to her, Kasper left the post voluntarily and will now become a part-time special civil servant focused on science, technology and industry. However, it is not yet known what specific position he will hold.
WP believes that in his new appointment he will be able to work up to 130 days as a civil servant — under the same conditions, American billionaire Elon Musk took the position of head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The Politico newspaper reported on April 18 that Kasper is planning to leave his post soon and move to a new position. On April 16, three defense department employees, including Hegseth's Deputy Chief of Staff, Senior Adviser Dan Caldwell, were fired in connection with the ongoing investigation into leaks of classified information.
