Some US allies express serious concern about the plan of the administration of the American leader Donald Trump to end the conflict in Ukraine. CNN reported this on Thursday, April 24, citing numerous diplomatic sources.

According to him, several diplomats from US allies are alarmed by the proposals put forward by the Trump administration. They explain their concern by the fact that with their statements, the American government is sending a positive signal to Russian President Vladimir Putin and other world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, about the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation.

It is noted that the proposal to de facto recognize the Crimean Peninsula as part of Russia contradicts the long-standing position of the United States, lobbying that Crimea is a Ukrainian territory. Meanwhile, Europe is increasingly declaring its unwillingness to support such a policy of the United States, which could lead to Washington's diplomatic isolation, the publication added.

In private conversations with American partners, some Asian diplomats have directly expressed concern about the global consequences of a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. They pointed out that such a scenario "sets a dangerous precedent." Moreover, they informed the Trump administration about their concerns, the TV channel writes.

Another European official said the British government is working with the Ukrainians to move forward with the proposed U.S. plan. According to him, it will be supported by security guarantees, including the possibility of deploying troops in Ukraine. Trump, in turn, ruled out the deployment of American forces in the country.

"Any agreement that suits Russia will be unprofitable for Ukraine. However, Ukrainians will have to come to terms with an option to a certain extent, which may not be the best for them compared to what they expected two years ago," the channel quoted one of the European diplomats as saying.

In his opinion, even if Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky supports a proposal implying serious territorial concessions — a step that one Ukrainian MP called "political suicide" — the Ukrainian parliament will reject it, the publication says.

At the same time, it is still unclear which strategy, in addition to the cessation of hostilities, is currently being promoted by the American side.

"At this stage, we believe that reaching agreements on key conditions is the fastest way to achieve the main goal," the TV channel quoted an American official who earlier called the actions of the US administration "chaotic, devoid of direction and confusing."

On April 24, Trump announced that great progress had been made in the negotiation process on the Ukrainian conflict. At the same time, he noted that Ukraine had lost many territories and it would be very difficult to regain control over them. The US President also noted that he considers the issue of the participation of the Russian Federation and Ukraine in the settlement negotiations to be important. At the same time, he has his own deadline for the possible achievement of a peaceful situation.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier in the day that Russia appreciates the mediation services provided by Trump and his administration in the negotiation process on the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, the Russian Federation aims to continue the settlement process.
