- In Makhachkala, a pensioner created a stand with WWII veterans and their grandchildren.

In Makhachkala, a patriotic stand with veterans of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and their grandchildren, participants in a special military operation, appeared on the embankment. Alibek Aliyev, a local resident, told Izvestia about the implementation of his idea.
The man, in a conversation with Izvestia correspondent Daniyal Isaev, noted that the idea was to create a connection between the generation of the USSR army and current Russian soldiers. According to Aliyev, he independently designed and printed out photographs of the military, after which he installed a banner.
"When we started looking, it turned out that the 12 heroes of today have 12 grandfathers who participated in the Great Patriotic War," he said.
Aliev stressed that he wanted to remind that the fight against fascism is a matter of honor for many Russian families.
"If the children know, then not everything is lost. I think the future of our country, the republic, will be in safe hands when such heroes grow up," he added.
At the same time, local resident Magomed Taymazov believes that this stand shows that the current generation remembers and respects their ancestors, and also wants to be like them.
On April 13, WWII veteran Anatoly Parubin told Izvestia about the capture of Vienna by the Red Army in 1945. According to him, the Germans blew up almost all the bridges across the Danube in the city, but the Soviet soldiers managed to clear the last remaining crossing.
