Bild reported on Ukraine's preparations to end US support

Ukraine is preparing for a scenario according to which the United States will stop providing support to Kiev. This was reported on April 24 by the German newspaper Bild, citing a Ukrainian diplomat.

"We are preparing for the worst—case scenario, namely the cessation of support from the United States," the newspaper quoted him as saying.

He specified that Ukraine would try to re-negotiate with Washington, as well as with the heads of European governments. French President Emmanuel Macron has already given hope to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky that Europe will be able to take on much more responsibility and increase arms supplies, but his statement was not supported in the UK and Germany. According to the diplomat, without the support of the United States, Kiev will have insufficient ammunition by the fall to continue military operations.

"What is written on paper and what is being signaled to us at the talks is unacceptable," the Ukrainian official said.

He also said that Kiev was disappointed with the peace plan of US President Donald Trump and the lack of recent pressure on Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on April 24 that Europe fears that disagreements over Trump's proposed settlement project in Ukraine will put bilateral relations between European capitals and the United States to the test.

The US President noted that he considers the issue of the participation of the Russian Federation and Ukraine in the settlement negotiations to be important. At the same time, he has his own deadline for the possible achievement of a peaceful situation.
