- A resident of Gornal told about his rescue from the village occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The only resident of the village of Gornal in the Kursk border region, who refused to evacuate when the invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) began and decided to stay in his house, as he did not want to "leave the farm", was Yuri Nikitin. However, when the man realized that it was better to get out of the village captured by the militants, he began to look for ways to do this, Nikitin told Izvestia on April 24.
At first, the man was in his house, but then it burned down as a result of the fighting. And Nikitin moved into the basement of the neighboring house. He learned the news about what was happening outside through the radio. At the same time, he found batteries for the device, putting himself in danger, in falling quadrocopters.
"The radio was powered by batteries. Quadrocopters are flying from above, they are falling, batteries are crumbling. You take it, connect it, and the radio talks. <...> I saw the mines. 40 pieces. Crossroads, so five, so five, below there are five. And on the sides, where the road goes to Gornal, and to Guevo, there were already a dozen standing there," a resident of the village told military commander Emil Timashev.
Having learned on the radio about the liberation of the neighboring village of Guevo, he decided to flee there. Currently, the Russian military is fighting for the liberation of Gornal.
Earlier on April 23, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that as part of the North group of forces, the military of the 810th Separate Guards Marine Brigade had driven out units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from key fortified positions in the area of Gornal liberated in the Kursk region. The Guards eliminated the AFU militants in Gornala and the border area of the Kursk region with complex fire damage.
On April 22, Russian military personnel liberated the Gornal St. Nicholas Belogorsky Monastery in the Kursk region from the occupation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was noted that the monastery served as a military facility for Ukrainian militants, on the territory of which artillery installations and drone control points were located.
Later, the military of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation spoke about the current situation in the vicinity of the monastery. The commander of the 5th battalion of the 810th brigade with the call sign Graver clarified that the forest belts in the vicinity of Gornal are being cleared, and Russian fighters are inflicting fire damage on the fortified positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
