- The sapper spoke about the work on mine clearance in the border areas of the Kursk region

Military personnel of the engineering troops, sappers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the volunteer brigade "Bars-Kursk" continue to mine the border territories of the Kursk region. The footage is published by Izvestia on April 24.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces (Armed Forces of Ukraine) left <...> a lot of traps, anti—tank mines, because this is the main problem for combines, which then go out [into the field]," said the commander of the Bars-Kursk engineering platoon with the call sign "Miron".
According to the soldier, sappers are necessarily covered by riflemen armed with smoothbore weapons and machine guns during work. This is necessary to protect against Ukrainian drones, which are actively hunting for mine clearance teams.
"Every day, sappers neutralize tens of thousands of "petals", "bells" and other unexploded shells. They try to finish their work in populated areas before the cold weather. Then they will examine fields, forest belts and reservoirs," said correspondent Tatiana Simonenkova.
Military personnel are also checking infrastructure facilities such as boiler houses, gas pipelines and power transmission lines. Military sappers combed 45 settlements, work continues in 28 more. After the completion of mine clearance, repair teams will arrive in the border areas of the Kursk region.
On April 19, the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, announced that 99.5% of the territory occupied by Ukrainian militants in the border area of the Kursk region had been liberated. The head of the General Staff clarified that there are only two areas left where fighting continues. This is the area of the settlements of Oleshnya and Gornal, which are located near the border with Ukraine.
