Ex-militant of the Ukrainian battalion "Aidar" was detained in the LPR

An ex-militant of the battalion of the Ukrainian nationalist battalion "Aidar" (recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in the Russian Federation) was detained in the city of Starobilsk of the Lugansk People's Republic (LNR). This was announced on April 24 by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.
"It has been established that a radical member of the terrorist community, while in Starobilsk, posted deliberately false information discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and rehabilitating Nazism on his personal page on the social network of Ukrainian news agencies," the Investigative Committee said in a Telegram channel.
According to the agency, during a search of the attacker's house, documents confirming his service in the Aidar battalion and other extremist materials were found.
The militant was charged with committing crimes under clause "d" of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("public dissemination under the guise of reliable information of knowingly false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation of their powers"), part 2 of Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code ("Participation in a terrorist community") and 354.1 of the Criminal Code ("Rehabilitation of Nazism").
Earlier, on April 14, the Southern District military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Vadim Tivonenko, a member of one of the nationalist battalions recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation, to 12 years in prison. He was captured in August 2024, while he actively resisted using small arms.
