The United States wants to get Russia to recognize Ukraine's right to own its own army and military industry. This was reported by Bloomberg on April 24, citing sources.

"The United States will demand that Russia recognize Ukraine's right to have its own army and defense industry as part of a peace agreement between Moscow and Kiev," the newspaper quoted the sources as saying.

According to the agency, US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steven Witkoff, may raise this issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin when they meet next time.

Earlier, on March 24, Andrei Klimov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, said that the demilitarization of Ukraine was not only one of the main tasks of the special operation, but also an "objective necessity." The senator noted that weapons inside Ukraine can be illegally delivered to other countries through gray corruption schemes.
