Zakharova called the EU mission's refusal to mention the Armenian Genocide cynicism

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on April 24 that the refusal of the EU mission in Armenia to mention the Armenian Genocide is cynicism and an abomination.

"Incredible cynicism and abomination!" Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.

This is how the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on a message from Sputnik Armenia about how the EU mission in the country first used the word "genocide" and then deleted its own mention of genocide from a publication on the relevant topic.

A fight broke out in the Armenian parliament between deputies of the ruling Civil Contract faction and the opposition Armenia after one of the parliamentarians proposed criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide at an April 22 meeting. The proposal to submit a bill on the introduction of criminal liability came from the representative of the Armenia Party Artsvik Minasyan.
