Zheleznovodsk received the status of a city of military historical heritage. Thus, the authorities want to celebrate the resort's contribution to the rehabilitation of military personnel during the Great Patriotic War, the press service of the governor and the Duma of the Stavropol Territory reported.

The city hosted wounded Red Army soldiers until the occupation in August 1942. When Soviet troops liberated the region, military hospitals were re-deployed in Zheleznovodsk, writes IA StavropolMedia.

According to Governor Vladimir Vladimirovich, the city also received 450 children from besieged Leningrad, orphaned children from the Smolensk region, and evacuated residents from the western territories of the country. In addition, mass production of explosives, clothing and shoes for the front and other necessary items was established.

As the head of the region noted, the assignment of a new status to the resort city is symbolic in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory and congratulated the locals on this event.

Earlier it was reported that a car passage will be opened on one of the streets of the village of Inozemtsevo in Zheleznovodsk after 30 years. The road leads to the museum, which has been blocked with concrete blocks for many years.
