Moscow and Tehran may continue to create joint projects related to new onshore gas corridors between the two countries. This was reported on April 24 in the Telegram channel of the Russian government.

"The parties expressed their willingness to continue working on joint projects to create new onshore gas corridors from Russia to Iran," the statement said.

The meeting between Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad took place on the eve of the 18th meeting of the permanent Russian-Iranian commission on trade and Economic cooperation.

According to the press service, Russia may begin to help expand trade and economic ties between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran.

In addition, during the meeting, Paknejad stressed that he hopes for Moscow's stabilizing role in achieving a balance in global energy markets.

Earlier, on April 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law ratifying the Comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with Iran. It implies mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries in the fields of politics, defense, economy, security, trade, investment, as well as energy, infrastructure, transport and communications. In addition, the document notes that the parties will cooperate in the development of international transport corridors running through Russia and Iran.

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries was signed by Putin and Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian on January 17, which brought bilateral relations between Moscow and Tehran to a new level. The Russian leader called the document a breakthrough, and the tasks set in the new agreement between the two countries ambitious, aimed at developing cooperation.
