Habeck announced the possible stagnation of the German economy in 2025

The German Economy Ministry will have to lower its economic growth forecast for 2025 by 0.3%, which will lead to stagnation this year. This was stated by the Minister of Economy of Germany Robert Habeck.
"We will have to lower the economic growth forecast for 2025 by 0.3% to 0.0% once again, that is, we predict stagnation for this year and lower the forecast from 1.1% to 1% for 2026," Habek said at a press conference in Berlin, which was broadcast on the Phoenix YouTube channel.
According to Habek, the main reason for the economic decline is the policy of duties pursued by US President Donald Trump. He added that Germany has become vulnerable to "blackmail," as it "receives all its raw materials from China."
On April 16, Handelsblatt, citing a study by the German Economic Institute, reported that the import duties imposed by Trump would cost the German economy €290 billion by 2028. At the same time, the total costs of the European Union due to American duties in the period from 2025 to 2028 may amount to € 1.1 trillion.
