Russia and the United States may restore some security treaties while respecting mutual interests, State Duma Deputy Alexei Chepa admitted on Thursday, April 24.

The parliamentarian clarified that the two states had agreements on the reduction of short- and medium-range missiles, there was an agreement on strategic arms reduction, and an agreement on the skies.

"There were many agreements from which the United States withdrew unilaterally, creating conditions under which further compliance was impossible. But if the United States has the desire, the need to restore the treaties, we are always open to discussion. We are ready to restore them while respecting mutual interests," Chepa said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

The politician noted that each agreement would need to be considered separately, since a number of security agreements are also linked to the positions of other Western countries.

"We cannot consider the United States in isolation from other NATO countries. There are points that need to be discussed. And it's not just about the interests of our countries, Russia and the United States. These are the interests of the world as a whole and its security," he concluded.

Earlier in the day, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said Russia was ready to discuss a new strategic stability treaty with the United States, subject to consideration of all factors that affect security. He noted that the crisis situation in the field of strategic arms control and disarmament between Washington and Moscow has developed due to the "irresponsible policy of the former US administration."

Shoigu also said that Russia is ready to restore dialogue with the United States, but will not trust only words, RT reports.

In addition, he pointed out that the deployment of peacekeeping forces in the historical territories of the Russian Federation could lead to a direct clash between NATO and the Russian side and further to World War III, according to the website. kp.ru .
