Nikolai Patrushev, Chairman of the Maritime Board and Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, visited the Nevsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant (SSZ) in the Leningrad Region on April 24, highly appreciating its production facilities.
During the meeting with the plant's management and representatives of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), the assistant to the head of state discussed the financial and economic performance of the enterprise. The issues of the current and prospective utilization of the plant, plans for technological and technical re-equipment of its facilities were also discussed.
"It is good that there is an understanding of the further development of the plant. There is a serial production of vessels and personnel issues are being resolved," Patrushev concluded.
Evgeny Kuznetsov, General Director of the plant, conducted a tour of the main production facilities — the procurement plant, the hull assembly shop, the workshop for assembling and welding flat sections with an automatic line, an open slipway, and others.
The Chairman of the Maritime Board inspected the vessels at various stages of construction. He stressed the importance of further professional development of the staff for the high-quality operation of the plant. He also noted the demand for his products.
Nevsky SSZ is currently engaged in the construction of a series of three medium-sized marine tankers under a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and is completing the fifth vessel in a series of five bulk carriers of the RSD59 project. Construction of a series of two research vessels of project 17050 for Rosrybolovstvo is also underway there.
On February 6, Patrushev, visiting the Krasnoe Sormovo Shipyard and the R. E. Alekseev Central Hydrofoil Design Bureau in Nizhny Novgorod, discussed issues of production utilization, financial and economic performance of the plant, as well as key areas of production modernization.
