250 kg of dangerous peppers found in Krasnoyarsk

A batch of fresh infected peppers was found in Krasnoyarsk. Dangerous vegetables with a total weight of 250 kg arrived from China by road, the press service of the regional Rosselkhoznadzor administration reported on Thursday, April 24.

During the inspection at the checkpoint, it turned out that the virus of brown wrinkling of tomato fruits was detected in the consignment. The infection was confirmed by an examination.

The pathogen affects nightshade crops. It causes deformation of the fruits — yellow, wrinkled spots appear on them. Necrotic streaks form on the stems, and mosaics appear on the leaves. The virus is safe for humans, but it can destroy up to 80% of the nightshade crop.

According to the KrasnoyarskMedia news agency, quarantine phytosanitary measures have been taken with respect to the cargo. All infected products were destroyed by the decision of the owner.
