Endocrinologist warned about the negative effects of obesity

Obesity increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and even some cancers, Eshkin Muradov, an endocrinologist at the Semeynaya clinic network, told Izvestia on April 25.
The expert noted that some groups of the population are prone to gaining excess weight.
"These are mostly people with low levels of physical activity, poor nutrition, and those who live under stress. It is also worth noting that women are more likely to suffer from obesity compared to men, which may be due to hormonal changes and social factors," he explained.
At the same time, the causes of obesity are diverse and include both genetic factors and lifestyle. Poor nutrition is one of the main factors: high—calorie foods, fast food and sweets are becoming part of the daily diet. In addition, lack of physical activity also plays a significant role. The modern lifestyle often implies sedentary work and leisure, which leads to the accumulation of extra calories. However, stress, depression, and emotional overeating can contribute to weight gain.
"Some people justify their condition with the ideas of a "body positive," arguing that everyone has the right to love their body, regardless of its shape or size. However, it is important to understand that obesity is not only an aesthetic problem, it can lead to serious medical consequences. Obesity increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and even some cancers," Muradov said.
According to him, the treatment of obesity requires a comprehensive approach. The first step is to consult an endocrinologist or nutritionist. These specialists will help you identify the causes of weight gain and develop an individual treatment plan.
"It is important to consider not only diet and physical activity, but also the psychological aspects of the problem. There are several treatment methods: lifestyle changes (diet and physical activity), drug therapy and surgical intervention in case of severe obesity," the expert added.
Earlier, on January 29, Natia Chekhoeva, a gastroenterologist and endoscopist at the Gastro Clinic, told Izvestia that the systematic consumption of excess calories inevitably overloads the body. This not only increases body weight, but also puts a strain on internal organs, including the heart, liver, and pancreas.
