The professor gave advice on preserving healthy genes

In order to preserve the health of the genes, so that the DNA structure is not damaged, it is necessary to try to eat right, maintain physical and mental activity. This was told to Izvestia by the head of the Department of Medical Genetics at the N.V. Sklifosovsky Sechenov University Institute of Clinical Medicine, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Vladimir Guschin on April 25.
He noted that future parents should think about the health of genes even at the stage of child planning. If one of them suffers from a hereditary disease or is a carrier of the "wrong" gene, then you should visit a geneticist before pregnancy. It is also necessary to undergo prenatal and neonatal diagnostics.
"[Should] Try to eat right, stay physically and mentally active, reduce risk factors associated with inflammation, and get vaccinated on time. There must also be balance and harmony in life, it is necessary to maintain a high interest in life, try to have less contact with mutagenic environmental sources, for example, excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays. Then there will be enough health, including genetic, for a lifetime," Guschin explained.
In his opinion, the best thing a person can do is to use knowledge about their genetic characteristics to maximize their lifestyle, realize themselves, choose the most appropriate profession, develop habits that maximize their inherent genetic abilities, and correct habits that can harm them.
Earlier, on March 5, Elena Aleksentseva, a pediatrician at Invitro-Voronezh, told Izvestia that following the daily routine is a key factor in maintaining a person's physical and mental health. Regular physical activity also plays an important role.
