Tsereteli's grandson noted the sculptor's contribution to art


Sculptor Zurab Tsereteli gave the world a huge wealth of works of art, work for him was the meaning of life. Vasily Tsereteli, the grandson of the muralist and vice-president of the Russian Academy of Arts, told Izvestia on April 24.
"Work has been my whole life. To the last, he created and did everything for the benefit of art, for the benefit of people, for the benefit of humanity, for the benefit of the academy <... > He gave the world a huge wealth of works of art that are all meaningful, all with a deep experience of peace and goodness," he shared.
According to the younger Tsereteli, his grandfather was not only an outstanding creator, but also the head of the family, an example for the younger generation to follow, and most importantly, a friend.
The Vice President of the Russian Academy of Arts emphasized that Zurab Tsereteli was always active and started his day with work, and also always arrived in a good mood, loved life and sincerely sought to give good. He expressed confidence that the death of the sculptor is a great loss not only for the family, but for all mankind.
The farewell ceremony for sculptor Zurab Tsereteli was held in Moscow at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior the day before. Relatives, friends and admirers of the sculptor's work came to honor the memory of Tsereteli. Wreaths from Russian President Vladimir Putin and the presidential administration were also delivered to the ceremony.
The death of muralist, sculptor and President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli became known on April 22. He was 91 years old.
