Five members of the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment were convicted in absentia in Belarus


In Belarus, five unit leaders and soldiers of the Kastus Kalinovsky Regiment, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in the republic, were sentenced in absentia. This was announced on April 24 by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus.
"All the accused are charged with participating in an armed formation on the territory of a foreign state, in an armed conflict, in military operations, recruitment and preparation of persons for such participation," Dmitry Brylev, head of the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus, said in the Telegram channel of the department.
The members of the group, which is fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, were also found guilty of "organizing the activities of an organization that is recognized as terrorist in accordance with the law" and leading it.
It is specified that the court sentenced Ignaty Kireev, Artyom Bigel and Jan Melnikov to 20 years in prison, Anastasia Makhomet to 18 years in prison with serving the first five years in prison, Vyacheslav Granovsky to 12 years in prison. Also, all the accused were fined.
In September last year, the Supreme Court of Belarus recognized the Kastus Kalinovsky Regiment and its structures as a terrorist organization. It was reported that the involvement of the group's members in the preparation and commission of acts of terrorism on the territory of Belarus was proven.
