Swedish Saab 340 AEW&C aircraft, which were transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), are vulnerable to Russian missiles and aircraft. This was reported on April 24 by Military Watch Magazine (MWM).

"The vulnerability of highly valuable, large, and non—maneuverable aircraft such as the Saab 340 remains high, as Russian forces have demonstrated that even small fighter-sized aircraft can be successfully attacked in <...> airspace," the publication said.

It is specified that Russian R-37M and 40H6 surface-to-air missiles pose a particularly high threat to this model of Swedish aircraft. The magazine added that the Saab 340 AEW&C has already completed its first test flight in the Lviv region.

Earlier, on April 21, Ukraine reported that a Saab 340 AEW&C long-range radar detection aircraft had arrived in the country. Such a radar reconnaissance aircraft is capable of detecting ships, aircraft and missiles at a range of up to 400 km and an altitude of up to 6 km.
