Dutch Parliament Speaker Martin Bosma, during a dinner with French Ambassador Francois Alabrun, proposed dividing the territory of Belgium between the two countries. This was announced on April 24 by journalist Petra de Koning in a column for the NRC publication.
She pointed out that there were other parliamentarians at the event.
"These deputies, and according to them, the ambassador, were stunned when they heard Bosma say what [a member of the Dutch House of Representatives] once said. Geert Wilders: that the Netherlands wants Flanders to be included. — Ed.). Then Wallonia, according to Bosma, can go to France," the reporter said.
Belgium has not yet responded to this statement.
Earlier, on January 27, it was reported that the Netherlands plans to increase the size of the army to 100,000 people, that is, by about 25%. It was clarified that the country's Defense Ministry now records a shortage of "tens of thousands" of soldiers in the army, consisting of 74 thousand people. More precise plans are expected to be made public by the summer.
