The President of Estonia has not adopted amendments to the law against the EPCC

Estonian President Alar Karis has not approved amendments to the law proposed by Parliament, which were directed against the Estonian Orthodox Christian Church (EOCC), the ERR television and radio company reported on April 24.
If adopted, the amendments to the law could actually lead to a complete ban of the EHRC in the country.
"President Alar Karis did not proclaim the adopted Riigikogu (Parliament. — Ed.) on April 9, 2025, an amendment to the "Law on Churches and Parishes", stating that the amendment to the law does not comply with the Constitution of Estonia," the ERR Telegram channel says.
On April 9, the Estonian parliament approved a law obliging to sever ties with the Moscow Patriarchate. As noted by Sputnik Near Abroad, in fact, this law prohibits the Estonian Orthodox Christian Church, and therefore it must sever all ties with Moscow or prepare for trial. Because in the eyes of the authorities, it remains "for Russia and the Kremlin the most important instrument of influence in Estonia."
The ERR portal reported on March 25 that the Tartu County Court allowed the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarch (EOC MP) to change its name to the Estonian Christian Orthodox Church.
