- The expert revealed a way to save on housing and communal services using modern technologies

Modern technologies can significantly reduce electricity consumption and, consequently, save on housing and communal services (utilities). In addition, such a decision will not affect comfort. Andrey Gorobets, Senior Product Manager at lighting solutions provider ST Luce, told Izvestia on April 25 about effective ways to reduce utility costs through proper lighting arrangements.
According to him, energy-efficient lamps are a key element of savings. Replacing conventional incandescent bulbs with LED ones reduces energy consumption by 80-85%.
"An energy-efficient lamp, such as an LED lamp, consumes about 7-10 watts at the same brightness as a conventional incandescent lamp consumes about 60 watts. This means that energy savings can be about 80-85%. Such a lamp lasts 10-15 times longer, which additionally reduces replacement costs," Gorobets said.
The correct distribution of light sources also plays an important role. The expert recommends using functional lighting, directing the light exactly to those areas where it is needed, for example, installing sconces for reading. In rarely visited rooms, such as storerooms or dressing rooms, it is advisable to install motion sensors and timers that automatically turn off the lights in the absence of people.
Additional savings can be achieved by regularly cleaning the fixtures. This improves the reflection of light and reduces the need for more powerful lamps. Modern technologies also offer more advanced solutions: the installation of smart sockets and Wi-Fi relays allows you to automate the control of lighting and electrical appliances according to preset scenarios.
The specialist emphasizes that for optimal selection of equipment, it is better to contact professionals — lighting designers or manufacturers of lighting solutions, who will help create an effective system taking into account the specifics of a particular room.
Earlier, on February 12, Yulia Fedorova, a real estate expert and CEO of TERRA Management Company, talked about ways to save money on housing and communal services. According to the expert, it is possible to reduce utility bills if you carefully monitor the condition of plumbing, reduce energy consumption and know your rights. So, to avoid unnecessary expenses for water, Fedorova recommended regularly checking plumbing for leaks, installing high-quality meters and changing them in a timely manner, and using water filters to extend their service life.
