Victory Volunteers launched the St. George Ribbon International Campaign

On the eve of Victory Day, Victory Volunteers, together with MIA Rossiya Segodnya, launched the St. George Ribbon International Campaign. During the campaign, volunteers take to the streets of populated areas and distribute the symbol of military glory, as well as give recommendations on how to wear it and tell the story of its origin. In 2025, the campaign will be held at more than 8000 locations.
Traditionally, the St. George Ribbon campaign was launched as part of a press conference at MIA Rossiya Segodnya.
Anton Starostin, Hero of Russia, participant of the Time of Heroes program, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Youth Policy of the Republic of Crimea, and Maria Akuratova, Executive Director of the regional branch of the Volunteers of Victory in the Republic of Crimea, joined the press conference in the format of a video bridge from the Republic of Crimea. Maria spoke about how the Movement's volunteers are expanding the scale of the action and distributing it not only on the streets of the region's settlements, but also handing it over to participants in a special military operation on the front line.
In Moscow, the capital of Russia, Victory Volunteers are distributing St. George's ribbons on the central streets of the city, on the forecourts and in Zaryadye Park. In the Samara region, Victory Volunteers launched an action on Kuibyshev Square. The volunteers distributed the symbol of military glory to everyone and told the residents and guests of the city about its history and significance. The main symbol of memory and gratitude will be presented to residents of the region at more than 100 sites: memorials, parks, schools and cultural centers. The campaign will cover all municipal districts, including Samara, Tolyatti, Syzran, Kinel and other settlements. The volunteers will remind residents of the history of the St. George ribbon and recommendations for its fastening on clothes – on the left side, closer to the heart as a sign of respect for the feat of Soviet soldiers and involvement in the historical events of our Motherland.
This year, more than seventy thousand ribbons will be traditionally handed over in the Altai Territory by the Victory Volunteers. To attach the St. George ribbon to clothes means to publicly demonstrate your gratitude to the soldiers who fought for the Fatherland, to express national pride in the Great Victory and respect for the feat of modern soldiers. The official start of the campaign in the region was given in Barnaul at kilometer zero, Victory Square and Leningradskaya Alley. Deputies of the regional parliament were the first to take part in the action. Before the session, the Movement's volunteers presented them with St. George's ribbons.
Kamchatka Krai became one of the first regions to launch the St. George Ribbon campaign. Victory volunteers, together with representatives of various public organizations, distributed a symbol of military glory on the streets of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
In the Udmurt Republic, the campaign was launched at the railway station as part of the launch of the Victory Roads project, jointly organized by Victory Volunteers and Russian Railways. The St. George ribbon was also awarded to the head of the region, Alexander Brechalov, who attended the premiere of the film "Dunkin' Joy".
The St. George Ribbon campaign has also started abroad. More than 40 countries will distribute the symbol of military glory, and in Libya and Mongolia, the event will be held with the participation of the Movement for the first time. The international team of Tajikistan Victory Volunteers began distributing St. George's ribbons in the morning, as well as information leaflets with the history of the St. George Ribbon and recommendations on how to wear it.
Despite the abnormally hot weather, the symbol of military glory is also distributed in Egypt: the Movement's volunteers not only congratulate citizens on the upcoming holiday, but also tell the story of the creation of the St. George Ribbon.
Italy, Tunisia, Azerbaijan and other countries abroad will also join the St. George Ribbon International Campaign. The international St. George Ribbon campaign will be held from April 24 to May 9. Millions of tapes will be transferred from hand to hand by the Volunteers of Victory. Along with the St. George Ribbon, Victory Volunteers will present a leaflet with the ribbon's history and recommendations on how to wear it. Information about the place and time of the distribution of the symbol of military glory is posted on the Volunteer Victory website.RF.
