Russians brought more than 10 tons of coins to the PSB

During the All-Russian Coin Week campaign, PSB branches accepted about 1.5 million coins in various denominations from residents of the country for a total amount of almost 5 million rubles.
According to the bank, the total weight of the change exceeded 10 tons. Most of all, Russians handed over 10-ruble coins for exchange — their share amounted to over 20% of the total amount of change collected by the bank. The second most popular coin was the one ruble coin. There were also a lot of penny coins — their share was almost 5%. Coins with a face value of 25 rubles were the least frequently handed over — they brought only 225 pieces.
The largest coin exchange operation for PSB took place in Bryansk, where the transaction amount amounted to 105 thousand rubles. By the way, one of the offices in this city became the leader among all PSB branches in terms of the number of coins accepted: during the campaign, citizens brought over 220 thousand coins totaling more than 1 million rubles to the bank's branch on Voystrochenko Street.
According to Yuri Latanov, head of the PSB's Savings and Transaction Products department, Russians' interest in Coin Week has increased significantly this year — citizens brought twice as many coins to the bank's branches as a year earlier. "The campaign is important and allows us to return metal money to circulation, reducing government spending on minting new coins," he stressed.
