Trade in agricultural products between Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) increased by almost a third in 2024. This was announced on April 24 by Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

"Relations between our countries are developing dynamically. We sincerely appreciate the dialogue that has been established in many areas of cooperation. One of the key ones is the agro-industrial complex. Last year, the turnover of agricultural products between Russia and the United Arab Emirates increased by almost a third. We hope that the positive dynamics will continue this year," Patrushev said during a working meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Russia Mohammad Ahmad Al-Jaber.

The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that in 2025, domestic companies participated in the Gulfood exhibition for the 10th time. Russia is ready to increase supplies of grain, halal meat, fat and oil products and confectionery to the UAE.

During the meeting, the parties discussed that a special working group has been established to develop the dialogue between the two countries in the field of ecology and environmental protection. Within the framework of it, among other things, issues of biodiversity conservation will be discussed. It is planned that the first meeting will be held in May this year. Dmitry Patrushev noted that Russia is also ready to share its experience in the field of geology and subsoil use.

"I am confident that mutually beneficial relations will continue to develop intensively. This, in turn, will help strengthen trade and economic ties between our countries and enhance the food security of Russia and the United Arab Emirates," Patrushev added.

Earlier, on March 24, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They called for further support in the implementation of mutually beneficial projects in the trade, economic and humanitarian fields of the two countries. In addition, they agreed to maintain close coordination in the OPEC+ format.
