Moscow has repeatedly told Japan that Tokyo's participation in experiments with Russia's sovereign assets would be considered complicity in theft. This was stated on April 24 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing.

"We have been warning the Japanese side for a long time that participation in illegitimate experiments with sovereign assets of the Russian Federation in any form, even as an intermediary who performs a purely "technical" function, will be considered by us as complicity in theft," Zakharova said.

According to her, such actions will have negative consequences in relations between the countries, such a step is unacceptable neither by legal nor by universal human concepts. Russia considers such actions "extremely hostile and treacherous."

Earlier, on April 23, Japanese Ambassador to Russia Akira Muto protested Tokyo's desire to use Russia's frozen assets. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that such actions by the Japanese government would be regarded as complicity in the crimes of the Kiev regime and would entail harsh retaliatory measures.
