The works of muralist, sculptor, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli fascinate the spirit. This was stated by Andrei Voskoboinikov, acting head of the Russian Federation's Interests in Georgia at the Swiss Embassy in the Transcaucasian Republic, in an interview with Izvestia on April 24.

"His creations can be admired not only in Russia and Georgia, but also in other parts of the world. They fascinate the spirit and amaze the imagination," he said.

According to Voskoboinikov, Tsereteli earned well-deserved respect from colleagues and students during his lifetime.

"The bright memory of the master will forever remain in our hearts," the diplomat added during the farewell ceremony with the sculptor in Tbilisi.

The farewell ceremony for Tsereteli took place the day before in Moscow at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Relatives, friends and fans of his work came to honor the memory of the sculptor. Wreaths from Russian President Vladimir Putin and the presidential administration were also delivered to the ceremony. Tsereteli's funeral will be held in the Didubian Pantheon of Georgia.

Tsereteli's death from cardiac arrest at the age of 92 became known on April 22. The sculptor's grandson, artist Vasily Tsereteli, emphasized in a conversation with Izvestia that his grandfather left a huge legacy and made a huge contribution to the culture of the Soviet states, Georgia and Russia.
