A case of cholera was detected in a tourist returning from India in the Moscow region. This was announced on April 24 by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor in the region.

"An imported case of cholera was detected in the Moscow region in a tourist who returned from India. Rospotrebnadzor had previously stated the risks of importation from countries that were not affected by cholera, so the agency's specialists were prepared for this situation," the website says.

It is noted that the disease was detected in a 40-year-old man who returned to Russia from India on April 21. At the same time, he was alone in the country from April 11 to April 20. According to the man's story, in India he drank running filtered tap water, and also ate in various establishments. However, after returning to Russia, he felt unwell and turned to the doctors.

Later, the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor identified the causative agent of cholera in a local resident of the region. Currently, the victim's condition is satisfactory, and there is also a positive recovery trend. The ministry added that the necessary anti-epidemic measures are currently being carried out.

Earlier, on April 17, Rospotrebnadzor denied information about cholera in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The ministry noted that messages of a similar nature began to appear back in 2022. However, the epidemiological situation of cholera was stable and was under constant control of the sanitary authorities, and preventive measures were also carried out.
