Britain and France have weakened their commitment to sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine. This was reported on April 24 by the British newspaper The Times, citing sources.

It is clarified that the initiative to deploy peacekeepers in Ukraine belongs to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.

"During the negotiations in London, this firm intention seems to have softened," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, Paris and London express concerns that Moscow may perceive this initiative as a unilateral measure and reject it. However, the kingdom is not going to completely abandon its plans.

On April 6, the heads of the general staffs of France, Great Britain and Ukraine discussed the possible deployment of peacekeepers to the territories controlled by Kiev.

On March 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that discussions in Europe about peacekeepers for Kiev were arrogance, a continuation of Ukraine's incitement against Russia. According to him, the appearance of European peacekeepers in Ukraine will mean that the root causes of the crisis will not disappear for the Russian Federation.
