The FSB showed footage of preventing a terrorist attack in the Nizhny Novgorod region

A terrorist attack using drones (UAVs) was prevented in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The relevant footage was shown on April 24 by the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service (FSB).

"During their detention, they put up armed resistance and were neutralized by return fire," the FSB Central Control Center said in a statement.

According to the agency, the attack was planned to be carried out on the territory of a petrochemical plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Its performers were two citizens from Central Asia. It is specified that they acted in accordance with the instructions of the Ukrainian curator. To carry out the sabotage, foreign citizens seized FPV drones with improvised explosive devices from the cache.

Law enforcement agencies confiscated two drones (UAVs) consisting of combat units with explosives of foreign manufacture, a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a Makarov pistol at the scene. Correspondence with the curator was found on the mobile devices of Central Asian citizens.

A criminal case was opened into the incident regarding preparations for sabotage.

On April 16, the FSB Public Relations Center reported the arrest of a native of Central Asia who planned to commit a terrorist attack at one of the leisure centers in Pyatigorsk. It is specified that the attacker conducted a reconnaissance of the area, acquired weapons and components necessary for the manufacture of homemade incendiary mixtures.
